Sven Kacirek was born in 1975 in Hamburg.
He took his first drum lessons in the age of ten. In 1993 he took lessons with Jost Nickel at "Yamaha Music Station" in Hamburg.

After three years Jost Nickel recommended Sven to the Drummers Collective in New York City where je joined the 10 week certificate programm in 1996. At the D.C. he studied under Kim Plainfield, Michael Lauren and Zach Danziger.

After moving to Arnhem (NL)in 1996 he attended the Hoogeschool voor de Kunsten as a student of Rene Creemers and Joop van Erven.

He returned to Hamburg in 1998 to study under professor Udo Dahmen as a participant of the "Kontaktstudiengang Popularmusik".

In 2003 Sven and Uwe published the second "field"-LP called "Trespass".

Also in 2003 he worked with the bass-player Beat Halberschmidt (Lychee Lassi) for the portuguese Choreaographer Angela Guerreiro within her piece "Exposure". He also played for the radio-play "Henry Silver" by Paul Plamper and his brother nils.

In 2004 Sven published his second book called "Secret Drum Grooves" (Alfred Publishing/KDM) and played several Workshops for Masterwork to present the ideas of his new book. Within this book Sven tries to apply different brushgrooves that are usually cut and pasted at the computer back to the acoustic drumset as well as to integrate different loop- and Fxmachines to the conventionel Set-Up.

He also worked with Beat Halberschmidt and Angela Guereirro for the container-project "From HH to Shanghai".

In 2005 he played for the Choreographer Silke Z. from Cologne and her piece "Look" and again he played for Angela Guerreiro("Memory Play") as a solo-musician, using different loop-machines, marimba and drums.
At the end of 2005 he was invited to join the "interdisciplinary laboratory for choreographers" in Poland that was organized by the "Büro Kopernikus".

In 2005/2006 Sven recorded his first solo-album "The Palmin Sessions" that will be published by pingipung / Kompakt, A-Musik

In 2007 he played and composed music for the choreographers Filip van Huffel, Antje Pfundtner and Johnny Lloyd. In 2008 he composed the music of the dance piece of Angela Guerreiro and performed with Angela Guerreiro at Addis Abeba and Nairobi. In 2008 he composed the music of the first feature-length movie of Dario Aguire.




At that time Sven was concentrated on the application of programmed drum´n bass-grooves to the acoustic drumset. He published two Sample-CDs for "framerecords" ("Handmade Drumtracks For Drum´n bass production"/2000) and "Masterbits"

Also in 2000 Sven published his first book "Drum´n bass-Creative Concepts For Drummers"/KDM-Verlag. Within this book Sven presents the practice concepts he created to apply these programmed beats of Goldie, Roni Size, etc... to the drums.

In the same year he was invited to play at the famous World Drum Festival where he played with his own Trio (Markus Setzer: Upright Bass, Donna Maja: Dj, Sven Kacirek: Drums).
At the end of 2000 Sven published together with Uwe Haas the EP "Stretch Your Hands Out"(Cylence) under the name "field".

In 2001 Uwe and Sven published the first "field"-LP called "Cocoon"(Cylence) After the release they started to add sound tracks to the silent movies "Ménilmontant"(D.Kirsanow; 1922) and "The mistery of the leaping fish"(D. Fairbanks, 1917) within a live performance.

Also in 2001 Sven played a couple of workshops for KTE Musical Instruments to present the Triple Hi-Hat as well as to present the ideas and concepts of his first book.

And again he was invited to perform at the World Drum Festival.
After his performance at the World Drum Fetstival Sven started to write a monthly column for the drummagazine "sticks". Within these articles Sven analyses the programmed Beats of Autechre, Radiohead, Squarepusher, The books, Björk and many more and tries to apply them to the acoustic drumset. Even today he still writes this monthly essay.

Early in March 2009 Sven is travelling to Kenya. He meets with many traditional singers and other musicians. Later on he will work on a new album that combines the kenyan field- and voice recordings with his own style.
